New birth defect treatment studied

Boston research are preparing to fix defects by using a fetu´s own cells to grow replacements part in the lamb. The new parts would then be stitched into place at place at birth or even  before.

  • The scientits, at Children´s Hospital Boston, have successfully patched deformed winpipes and diaphragms in lambs and are waiting approval by federal government and the hospital´s etic board to try the procedure in a human with similar defect.
