Polyethylene pipe is used worldwide as the preferred construction material for water transmission and distribution systems. High density polyethylene (HDPE) has the optimum balance of performance and properties to satisfy the rigorous demands of water transmission and distribution systems for both municipalities and industries.

Policonductos is the only producer of polyethylene pipe in Mexico that offers a complete range of pipe up to 36 inches in diameter. Policonductos' HDPE pipe has the excellent quality needed for the transmission of liquids, gasses and sewage, satisfying the strictest requirements of its customers.

POLYPIPE brand polyethylene pipe offered by Policonductos can be used in the transmission of water, gas, liquids with suspended solids, and sewage, in diameters that range from 1/2 inch to 36 inches and with related diameter/pressure ratings (PR) from 7 to 41.

HDPE for water and municipal sewers

HDPE pipe made by Policonductos offers the best solution to water transmission projects, including new or rehabilitated systems for drinking water, industrial water, or municipal sewage.

The exceptionally smooth inner surface of Policonductos polyethylene pipe provides the minimum resistance to flow and maintains that minimum resistance throughout the life of the pipe. This is different from pipe made of other materials, in which flow is reduced over time due to accumulating wear, incrustation and corrosion.

With the use of Policonductos pipe, you can achieve greater transmission capacity for a given diameter than could be obtained with pipe made from other materials.

The high ductility of Policonductos pipe allows great flexibility, making it ideal for easy placement in a trench without damaging the pipe.

This feature also offers a higher resistance to seismic movement and reduces considerably the number of connections required for conventional systems, therefore reducing the cost of the transmission line. Polyethylene pipe can be installed in narrower trenches than usually required by pipe made from other materials, therefore also reducing the costs of civil engineering.

The elastic properties of polyethylene can absorb, through expansion, a significant amount of energy caused by sudden increases in pressure. This permits repetitive spikes of pressure up to 150% and occasional spikes of up to 200%. This elasticity also makes the material ideal for sustaining blows from battering when the location of the pipe is not known, again reducing the costs incurred.

The thermofusion sealing of Policonductos polyethylene pipe is 100% hermetic, which guarantees zero leaks for the life of the pipe, contributing efficiently to the solution of the problem of losses and leaks in drinking water transmission lines and in sanitary drainage lines, respectively, in comparison to the use of traditional materials.

Advantages of HDPE

The general advantages that Policonductos pipe offers in comparison to pipe made from conventional cast iron, carbon steel, concrete, PVC, etc., include:

  • Useful life of up to 50 years with low cost throughout the life cycle
  • High flexibility that reduces the number of connections, and combined with its lower weight, facilitates installation
  • Lower installation costs because narrower trenches are required
  • High resistance to seismic movement and ground settling
  • High resistance to internal and external corrosion, abrasion and ultraviolet rays
  • Optimal combination of mechanical and ductile resistance
  • High resistance to damage from puncturing by contact, enabling installation in shallower trenches
  • Very low likelihood of incrustation
  • Greater capacity to maintain transmission throughout its useful life
  • Ability to sustain blows from battering
  • Completely hermetic seals
  • Lengths of 6, 12 and 15 meters for pipe widths from 3" to 36" and lengths of 100 to 300 meters for diameters of 1/2" to 3", thereby reducing considerably the number of connections
  • And most important: zero leaks guaranteed
