Effective immediately, or as existing contracts permit, BASF is raising its prices for formic acid in Europe 80 Euro per ton, in South America by 80 US-Dollars per ton and in Asia by 50 US-Dollars per ton.

BASF’s customers use formic acid in multiple applications. The eco-efficient acid helps to keep certain feeds fresh and free of salmonellae, removes paints and rust from metallic surfaces and scale from kettles and boilers. In breweries and wineries it disinfects kegs, casks and barrels; applied as an auxiliary in the pharmaceutical and crop protection industry it regulates pH values; in cleaning it acts as dirt remover and disinfectant. Formic acid salts, the so-called formates, serve as high-class de-icing agents and valuable auxiliaries in oil production. BASF is the world’s leading producer of formic acid, with production plants at its integrated Verbund sites in Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Nanjing, China.

Effective immediately, BASF is also increasing its sales prices for dimethylaminopropylamine and dimethylacetamide in Europe as follows:

Dimethylaminopropylamine (DMAPA) + €100 per metric ton
Dimethylacetamide (DMAC) + €120 per metric ton

These methylamine derivatives are versatile chemical intermediates with a wide range of applications, such as agrochemicals, water treatment and personal care. DMAC also has a broad variety of uses as a solvent. BASF produces methylamines and their derivatives at its sites in Ludwigshafen, Germany; Geismar, Louisiana; Nanjing, China; and Camaçari, Brazil.

Also effective immediately, BASF is increasing its sales prices for higher alkylamines in Europe as follows:

Monoethylamine (MEA 70%)

+€  40 per metric ton

Diethylamine (DEA)

+€  60 per metric ton

Triethylamine (TEA)

+€  70 per metric ton

Mono-isopropylamine (MIPA)

+€ 100 per metric ton

Monopropylamine (MPA)

+€ 30 per metric ton

Dipropylamine (DPA)

+€  40 per metric ton

Tripropylamine (TPA and TPA+)

+€  50 per metric ton

Monobutylamine (MBA)

+€ 80 per metric ton

Dibutylamine (DBA)

+€  90 per metric ton

Tributylamine (TBA and TBA+)

+€ 100 per metric ton

Octylamine (OA)

+€ 250 per metric ton

2-Ethylhexylamine (2-EHA)

+€ 160 per metric ton

Di-2-Ethylhexylamine (Di-2-EHA)

+€ 180 per metric ton

Tris-2-Ethylhexylamine (Tris-2-EHA)

+€ 200 per metric ton

Tridecylamine (TDA)

+€ 140 per metric ton

Di-tridecylamine (Di-TDA)

+€ 180 per metric ton

The price increase will apply to current supply agreements as soon as and to the extent permitted by their terms and conditions.

These high-quality specialty amines are starting materials for the production of various intermediates that are used for example in the agrochemical, pharmaceutical, rubber, coatings and coolants industries.
